Ryan Edmondson has sent a heartfelt message to Leeds United staff and fans following his departure from Elland Road during the week. The 21-year-old signed for Carlisle United on a free transfer, putting pen to paper on a two-year deal.
Edmondson joined the Whites from York City in 2017 but made just two appearances for the senior side over the course of three seasons in the Championship. He went on to feature for Aberdeen, Northampton Town, Fleetwood Town and Port Vale on loan before his permanent departure from West Yorkshire.
The striker will join up with former England under-19 boss Paul Simpson at Brunton Park - who gave Edmondson three caps for the England youth side. And with the deal now a few days old and everything having sunk in, the former Whites man sent a heartfelt message of thanks to players, staff and fans after leaving his boyhood club.

“Leeds United, what can I say. You gave me my dream to play for my boyhood club and it’s something that will live with me forever.” The forward wrote in his personal Instagram account.
“Stepping out on to that pitch was the best day of my life at the age of 16 and it’ll never be forgotten! I want to thank every coach, player and member of staff at Leeds United for everything you have done for me and taught me along my journey. I wish you all the best for the future and hopefully we can meet again”
Edmondson will be plying his trade in League Two next season against the likes of Harrogate Town, Bradford City and Doncaster Rovers. The move down the leagues will hopefully bring with it regular playing time and the opportunity to develop in senior football.
