Ryan Christie injury concerns addressed ahead of Scotland's March fixtures

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has provided an update on the condition of Scotland star Ryan Christie ahead of the March international break.

Steve Clarke's side meet up for the first time in 2025 in a few weeks for a crucial UEFA Nations League A relegation playoff tie with Greece.

The Scots travel to Athens for the first leg on Thursday, March 20, before welcoming Ivan Jovanovic's side back to Hampden for the return tie three days later.

Lyndon Dykes has already been ruled out of the upcoming international break, and after he was withdrawn through injury 26 minutes into Bournemouth's 2-1 loss to Brighton on Tuesday, concerns were raised over Christie's fitness.

Boss Iraola addressed such worries post-match: "He [Christie] felt something in the groin," said the Spaniard (Football Scotland).

"He is having some issues within the season, and he has been dealing with these issues. Today, though, he felt something different, and we will assess him.

"The players we have recovering are healthy, but they don’t have the competitive state as the ones playing playing regularly. So we have to wait for them until they get into a competitive state. We will try to deal with this situation."

As well as Christie, Clarke also faces a sweat over the fitness of duo Ben Doak and John Souttar.

Beating the Greeks over two legs is necessary for the 61-year-old to keep Scotland competing at the top level of the Nations League.

Clarke will want his best players available, although it remains to be seen how much of a full-strength squad he'll have to pick from next month.
