Ryan Christie bats away Celtic exit snipers as Bournemouth star keeps powder dry on 'ambition' poser

Former Celtic star Ryan Christie declined to take a pot shot at critics of his move to Bournemouth after earning promotion to the Premier League.

The decision to leave Celtic Park was questioned by some pundits as he opted to join the Cherries in the Championship and Scott Parker's overhaul at the club.

Despite his motives for the move being questioned at the time, the Scotland international has always insisted he chose Bournemouth with a view to reaching the English top flight.

They ended the season as runners-up and will be rubbing shoulders with England's elite next term.

Despite his success down south, the 27-year-old declined the chance to take a swipe at his doubters on BBC Sportsound.

Kenny Macintyre quizzed Christie about reaching the Premier League and asked: 'It must be nice for you to silence some of the critics who questioned your ambition to move to Bournemouth?"

The Celtic Treble winner responded: "When I moved to Bournemouth that was my goal. It was to try and get promoted.

"I'm absolutely over the moon that we have managed to get that. Plenty of people have said to me you must be happy to quieten a few people down, but I don't really see it like that.

"My dream was to play in the Premier League. A lot of people told me how tough the Championship was going to be, so I definitely felt that towards the end of the season.

"I knew how big an achievement it was going to be if we managed to do it, and thankfully we got over the line.

"Now it's just a huge excitement waiting for next season.

"It's been such a new experience, but I've loved every minute of it."
