Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe got tough with his Toon stars after a poor first half at Villa Park.
Howe resisted the temptation to make changes at the break as he had at Brentford just seven days ago. But Howe acted within 10 minutes of an equally flat opening to the second half against Unai Emery's men.
By that time, Newcastle's goal had been peppered by the home side with only Nick Pope's brilliance keeping them in the game with a couple of fine saves.

Howe withdrew Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon on 55 minutes and replaced them with Callum Wilson and fit again Almiron.
Gordon had been unhappy with being subbed in the 2-1 win over Brentford but had no complaints this time as he made his way to the bench.
Having made it through the first hour just a goal down, Howe was spotted demanding much more from his team in the second city.
