Ruth Langsford 'wants to move on' from Eamonn Holmes but one thing is holding her back

Ruth Langsford is said to have been “enjoying a little flirt” since separating from husband Eamonn Holmes last year, but feels something is preventing her from taking things further with any potential suitors.

The Loose Women panelist and GB News star, both 65, stunned fans when they announced last May that they were calling time on their 14 year marriage.

While Holmes has made no secret of moving on with new girlfriend Katie Alexander, who is 22 years his junior, Langsford has remained single.

Although she has generally remained quiet about their split, she did hit back when questioned online why she was still wearing her wedding ring, saying: “Because I’m still married”.

Now, an insider has claimed that Langsford is still sporting the band because “she’s coming to terms with a long relationship ending” and that has also influenced her decision not to date as she “just wants out” of her marriage.

“Ruth has been having fun going out with her girlfriends, and enjoying a little flirt, but that’s it. She really needs the Eamonn chapter to be fully closed before she can move on romantically, she needs her freedom,” a source told New.

“She really isn’t dating, it’s the last thing she wants to do. She just wants to get the divorce over and done with. Her friends would love to see her happy with someone else, but she needs to get the divorce over with first before she can properly move on.”

A joint statement issued last May by a spokesperson for the former couple - who share one grown-up son - said: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

Holmes and Langsford worked together for years on ITV's This Morning show and were well known for their affectionate bickering, which often happened right in front of the cameras.

The Northern Irish broadcaster’s new partner is said to be in it for “the long-haul” including supporting him through his various health issues.

Holmes first started experiencing severe back pain out of the blue back in spring 2021, which left him reliant on a walking stick.

Further investigation found that he had suffered three slipped discs which affected the movement of his right leg.

In May 2022, things took a turn for the worse when he flew to Belfast to host an event in honour of close friend Gloria Hunniford and ended up in A&E after his spinal problems caused bladder and bowel issues.
