Ruth Langsford shares sweet two-word message to husband Eamonn Holmes as he offers health update

Ruth Langsford has publically shown her support for her husband Eamonn Holmes as he offered a small update in his progress following surgery on his back. The former This Morning star underwent an operation in September last year after years of battling chronic pain as a result of slipped discs.

But shortly after the operation, he suffered a fall and the accident left him with a fractured shoulder and out of work for four months. Eamonn was then hit by further heartbreak when his beloved mum, Josie, died in November and he was unable to attend her funeral.

Speaking to Loose Women star Kaye Adams on her How To Be 60 podcast, Eamonn opened up about his health issues and shared the 'most awful thing' about his health woes. "You're inhibited playing with the dog, you're inhibited playing with your grandchild, you're inhibited just socialising," he said. But also, the most awful thing is just being dependent on other people and what that does to you."

The 63-year-old went on to say: "Being dependent on someone to get you a cup of tea, to get something from the fridge, to pass you the TV remote controls, to bring you to the bathroom sometimes…. There are so many things where it’s demoralising having to ask. And there’s only so many times you can say, ‘Karen, could you get me this’, ‘Kay you couldn’t hand me that could you?’ And you are dependent. And if Kay decides ‘I’m fed up of handing you things, get it yourself’ or whatever, it’s very humiliating."

He later added: "You know, my legs don’t support me at the minute. Hopefully, it will get better and things will change, but I’m envious now of people with really good health because it’s like that or nothing."

And Eamonn is still going through rehab and training to try and get himself back to as close to full health as possible. Taking to Instagram over the weekend, he shared a selfie from one of his latest sessions and said: "Training with my eyes closed . It's all about regaining my balance. Hard work made harder balancing on one leg."

The GB News presenter was quickly flooded with support, including from wife Ruth. The Loose Womens star posted a string of applause amojis in the comments section before adding: "Keep going." Radio presenter Bob Harris also echoed Ruth's comment as he typed: "Keep going Eamonn!"

@sylvieamberville replied: "Oh Eamonn keep going!!! Me too as I had a horrific fall breaking the femur and hips- what a pain!!! Doing physio will try to do your exercise with eyes closed!!!! Thank you for showing us your exercises and your progress!!!! All the very Best Mr H." @gail_pope_mcgregor said: "Looking great @eamonnholmes That’s a difficult exercise (on one leg - eyes shut) but it’ll be worth it. Keep up the great work!"

@sarah.ellis.351756 posted: "You are doing so good in a difficult time. Everyone wants to see you fit and healthy. Thanks for lifting us up over the years. God bless." @bevie_groom shared: "You got this Eammon keep up the good work." @janecottonaspinall typed: "You will get there. You are inspiring millions in similar situations." @maureengoldthorpe added: "That’s fantastic Eamonn! Keep on trucking - it will all be worth it, in the end.."
