Ruth Langsford backs husband Eamonn Holmes over new show after This Morning 'split'

Ruth Langsford has spoken out to support her other half Eamonn Holmes as he prepared to launch the second series of a rather unexpected venture for the BBC and she gets set to host This Morning without him.

It's been a while since Ruth and Eamonn were last seen on screen together, with him quitting ITV to move to GB News, after he and Ruth lost their Friday hosting job on This Morning to Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary. Although the husband and wife team stayed on the show after being replaced, providing holiday cover for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Eamonn then announced he was switching channels to go to GB News, where he has been presenting the breakfast show.

But at the end of this week it's the BBC that veteran broadcaster was promoting as he prepared to debut series two of Farm To Feast: Best Menu Wins, a new Saturday morning series that sees seven talented amateur cooks compete using the best ingredients on their doorstep. Ahead of the first episode airing on June 18, Eamonn geared up to appear on Friday's The One Show, telling fans: " My new Saturday Morning amateur cooking competition on @BBCOne at 11.30. Also on i player. Farm to Feast Best Menu wins ! Hope you like it."

Ruth shared news of series 2 of Farm to Feast and Eamonn's One Show appearance on her Instagram, writing: "Standing by to watch him indoors talk about his new series….."

Her support of Eamonn comes as she prepares to host This Morning for the first time since he quit. And, with Eamonn no longer with ITV, Rylan Clark confirmed it will be him who joins Ruth to host the daytime show for a week in the summer.

News of Ruth's This Morning return came after she spoke out on Loose Women about Eamonn's recent health scare, which saw him taken into hospital. Assuring her concerned colleagues that he was alright, the host explained: ""He's out now, he's resting at home. You now he's had this bad back problem and it played up again and he ended up in hospital for a few days.

"So, yes, it's been a bit worrying. That's why I wasn't here last week. And he's out now and resting at home," adding: "Yeah, he's alright now, thank you."
