Ruth Jones refuses to rule out more Gavin and Stacey episodes after Christmas special

Ruth Jones has discussed whether the upcoming Gavin and Stacey special really will be the last episode - revealing that she would “never” rule out more instalments.

The Gavin and Stacey reunion will air on Christmas Day and reveal what the much-loved characters have been up to in the last 10 years.

The episode has been penned by the show’s original writers, Jones and James Corden, who will also be reprising their roles as Nessa and Smithy.

Speaking to Red magazine, the 53-year-old praised the “astonishing” reaction fans had to the reunion news.

“We will never again have the effect that we’ve had this time around, having said for 10 years that we’re not doing any more and the announcing something special,” she said.

But on the question of whether this really is the end, Jones added: “I think it would be churlish of me to say there won’t be any more. The honest truth is there are no plans, but I don’t think I could ever say never.”

Her comments came after the first full trailer for the episode was revealed over the weekend.

The Christmas special will see the gang unite in Barry Island and almost all of the main cast will be returning.

Bryn (played by Rob Brydon) will be taking on the daunting task of cooking for the families.
