Ruth Davidson appointed to Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo board

RUTH Davidson has been appointed to the board of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

The former leader of the Scottish Conservatives said she is “delighted” to be joining the board as she looks to play a key role in shaping the future of the Tattoo, which will take place over the course of the Edinburgh Fringe.

Davidson (below) was appointed alongside David Pullan, managing directer at People’s Postcode Lottery, and Rucelle Soutar, chief financial officer at the Scottish Football Association.

Jason Barrett, the chief executive of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, said the appointments would "undoubtedly make us better".

Davidson is expected to provide guidance on political matters to support the Tattoo’s “wider community and charitable impact”.

She said: “It’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining the Tattoo with plans to grow the wider brand to a year-round offering as well as increasing the considerable charitable donations it provides.

“As Jason would say, 'you’re either moving forwards or you're going backwards, there’s no standing still' and it's clear that the Tattoo is striding forward under Jason's leadership.

“I’m delighted to be joining alongside Rucelle and David and can’t wait to play my part in helping the Tattoo achieve great things."

Chief executive Barrett said: “Connection is at our core, and we pride ourselves at the Tattoo with the ability to bring people together at a national, local and international level.

“As experienced leaders, Ruth, David and Rucelle, reflect the importance of connection throughout their impressive careers and the Tattoo is incredibly fortunate to have them join our board.

“To become one of the world’s greatest immersive events will only be possible if we have the broadest range of talent and experience on our board.

“On behalf of the entire Tattoo team, we are thrilled to be working alongside Ruth, David, and Rucelle – they will undoubtedly make us better.”
