A Russian TV host has called on President Vladimir Putin to launch hypersonic Satan-2 missiles, according to the Daily Star. His comments came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Russia had supported state-sponsored terrorism.
Presenter Vladimir Solovyov said: "This is the path to a big war. Serious big war. What do we have to lose then? So why don't we use Sarmats, Poseidons?", reports the Daily Star.
Sarmat missiles, also known as Satan-2, have been labelled "unstoppable" by Putin. The intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) are capable of hitting targets across the world, and are capable of travelling at 15,880mph, the Mirror reports. Poseidons are underwater torpedoes that can travel at 125mph.
Solovyov said on his state TV channel that calling Russia a sponsor of state terrorism should prompt Putin to axe all political and diplomatic relations. He said: "There will be an immediate rupture of diplomatic relations and at the same time sanctions against countries that are trying to trade with us."
He added this should include introducing a “crazy price for oil and gas”, noting Germany, which like much of Europe is reliant on Russian oil and gas, was already “dying of cold”. German consumption of Russian fuel was estimated at 32 per cent before the war, now thought to be down to 20 per cent of its usual level.
