The Russian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the recent attack on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus. In a statement published on its website, the ministry expressed its disapproval of any assaults on diplomatic and consular facilities, emphasizing that their inviolability is protected by the Vienna Conventions.
The ministry went on to criticize Israel for its alleged involvement in the attack, deeming such aggressive actions as unacceptable and calling for them to cease immediately.
Iran has pointed fingers at Israel for the attack, claiming that the building targeted was a military facility belonging to the Quds forces, a unit of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. However, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman declined to comment on the incident.
Meanwhile, Hamas has also denounced the strike, attributing it to Israel and condemning it as a blatant violation of international law. The group characterized the assault as an infringement on the sovereignty of both Syria and Iran.
Adding to the chorus of disapproval, Oman's foreign ministry expressed strong condemnation and denouncement of the attack in a separate statement.
