Russia has expelled a British diplomat from the British embassy in Moscow, accusing him of spying. The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) alleged that the diplomat intentionally provided false information to enter the country as a cover for espionage work, violating Russian law.
The FSB identified signs of intelligence and subversive work by the diplomat that threatened the security of the Russian Federation. As a result, the Russian Foreign Ministry revoked the diplomat's diplomatic accreditation and ordered him to leave Russia within two weeks.
The British Ambassador to Russia, Nigel Casey, was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry following the expulsion. Video footage shows Ambassador Casey entering the ministry calmly as Russian media reporters shouted questions.
