Tragedy struck in the southern Ukrainian port city of Odesa as a Russian drone hit an apartment block overnight, resulting in the loss of three lives and leaving eight others injured, according to regional Governor Oleh Kiper. The Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the Odesa region faced a total of eight drone attacks, with seven of them being successfully intercepted by air defenses.
Wider attacks were reported across Ukraine, with air defenses managing to shoot down 14 out of 17 drones launched against the country. In the eastern Ukrainian province of Kharkiv, over 20 settlements were targeted by Russian artillery and mortar attacks. Additionally, a drone strike damaged high-rise buildings in the regional capital, Kharkiv, although no casualties were reported, with three individuals experiencing acute stress reactions.
Meanwhile, in the partly occupied Kherson region, a 53-year-old man lost his life due to Russian artillery shelling on Saturday morning, as confirmed by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office. In a separate incident in Russia, a drone crashed into an apartment building in St. Petersburg, resulting in six individuals requiring medical assistance following the explosion. The cause of the incident was attributed to a Ukrainian drone by the Mash news site, although this claim remains unverified by independent sources.
As of now, Russia’s Defense Ministry has not issued any official statement regarding the drone-related incidents. The situation remains tense as both Ukraine and Russia grapple with the aftermath of these attacks, underscoring the ongoing conflict and its devastating impact on civilians in the region.
