Britain will not be deterred by Russia from supplying weapons to Ukraine, No10 said on Monday after an attack on a key logistical centre close to the border with Poland.
Downing Street stressed that NLAW (Next Generation Light Anti-tank Weapon) missiles provided by the UK had been successfully used by Ukrainian forces against Russian convoys involved in the invasion, which has entered its 19th day.
Russia unleashed 30 rockets at the Yavoriv military base, less than 15 miles from the border with Poland, on Sunday.
At least 35 people were killed and 134 injured, according to local reports.
The Yavoriv base is an important logistical hub and Russia’s deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov has warned that arms shipments to Ukraine from the West would be considered “legitimate targets”.
However, No10 stressed Britain would not be deterred from supplying Ukrainian forces with weapons.
The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said: “We will absolutely carry on providing this defensive, lethal capablity to the Ukrainian government.
“It is vital we continue to do so.
“We know it is being helpful and has been successfully deployed and we will continue to do so.”
