The UK will personally sanction Russian President Vladimir Putin and his foreign minister Sergei Lavrov over their “revanchist mission” to overturn the post-Cold War order, Boris Johnson has told a virtual meeting of Nato leaders.
The European Union has also agreed to freeze the assets of Russian President Vladimir Putin and foreign minister Sergei Lavrov along with other sanctions.
It comes as Russian troops have advanced to the “suburbs” of Kyiv, say Ukrainian defence sources.
