Russia’s air defenses reported the destruction of 117 'aircraft-type UAVs' and four tactical missiles in an overnight operation, as announced by the defense ministry on Wednesday.
Among the unmanned aerial vehicles, commonly referred to as drones, 37 were taken down over the Kursk region, where Ukraine initiated a surprise cross-border incursion the previous week. The four missiles were also neutralized in the same area.
Furthermore, Voronezh Gov. Aleksandr Gusev disclosed that over 35 drones launched from Ukraine were intercepted and destroyed in the southwestern Voronezh region, which shares borders with Kursk and Belgorod regions. Gusev shared this information in a Telegram post on Wednesday.
Fortunately, there were no reported casualties resulting from the attack. However, Gusev noted that 'several residential and non-residential properties, municipal infrastructure, and vehicles were damaged due to the falling debris of the UAVs.'
He also emphasized that the threat of additional drone attacks in the region remains a concern.
