Russia Open To Economic Cooperation With US On Rare Earth Minerals

North Korea hosts Russia delegation for talks on economic cooperation

Russia has expressed its openness to economic cooperation with the United States, particularly in the areas of energy and mining rare earth minerals. This statement follows US President Donald Trump's remarks about potential economic development deals with Russia, highlighting the country's significant rare earth deposits.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Moscow is prepared to collaborate with American companies to extract rare earth minerals from both Russia and parts of Russian-occupied Ukraine. He emphasized Russia's abundant rare metal reserves compared to Ukraine and mentioned the possibility of involving foreign partners in mining activities.

In addition, Putin mentioned the willingness to export approximately 2 million tons of aluminum to the US market if sanctions on Russian metal imports were lifted. He commended Trump's approach to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, describing it as rational and calculated.

Kirill Dmitriev, Russia's special envoy for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, echoed Putin's sentiments by affirming Russia's readiness for economic collaboration with the US. Dmitriev highlighted energy as an initial focus area for cooperation.

Trump, during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, expressed optimism about the potential for a deal to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He emphasized his background in deal-making and his belief in Putin's willingness to negotiate.

While Ukraine has emphasized the importance of security guarantees in any potential agreement, Trump has not provided clarity on this aspect. Despite questions about trust in Putin, Trump reiterated his belief in the Russian leader's desire to reach a deal for the benefit of both countries.
