Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and presidential aide Yury Ushakov are scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia for discussions with American officials on Tuesday regarding the restoration of the entire complex of Russia-US relations, as announced by the Kremlin.
The meeting, set to take place in Riyadh, will involve US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Middle East special envoy Steve Witkoff, and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz. The primary focus of the talks will be on the comprehensive improvement of Russian-American relations, with discussions also touching on peace efforts in Ukraine.

A Saudi official has indicated that the kingdom is prepared to play a mediation role in the discussions. However, Ukrainian officials have stated that Kyiv was not formally informed about the upcoming talks. Nevertheless, Keith Kellogg, the Trump administration’s Russia-Ukraine envoy, has been engaged in discussions about a 'dual track' set of negotiations and is expected to be in Ukraine this week.
US President Donald Trump has also mentioned that Ukrainians will be involved in the negotiations, emphasizing their participation in the process. The talks in Saudi Arabia are seen as a significant step towards addressing the complex dynamics of Russia-US relations and fostering peace initiatives in Ukraine.
