Russia and Ukraine have conducted a prisoner exchange, with each country releasing 103 military personnel in a swap facilitated by the United Arab Emirates. This development comes in the midst of ongoing tensions between the two nations.

Following a meeting between President Biden and the UK's Prime Minister, discussions were held regarding Ukraine's request to fire long-range missiles into Russia. However, no decision was reached on this matter, with the focus being on how to support Ukraine while ensuring defensive use of weapons.

Ukrainian President Zelensky has been advocating for the use of Western-made long-range missiles to counter Russian attacks, particularly after reports that Iran supplied Russia with short-range ballistic missiles. The G7 has issued a statement condemning Iran's export of missiles to Russia, labeling it a violation of international law and a direct threat to Ukrainian, European, and international security.

Despite Ukraine's request to utilize U.S. attack arms and British-made storm shadow missiles, concerns about potential escalation have led to a delay in authorization. Russian President has warned that allowing long-range strikes would be perceived as an act of war by NATO countries and could lead to further conflict.

The prisoner exchange, involving a total of 206 individuals, is seen as a step towards de-escalation. Both countries have expressed hope to continue discussions on these critical issues, with plans to revisit the topic at the upcoming U.N. General Assembly.
