Russell Wilsons signs with Steelers, will play against Broncos in 2024

Russell Wilson has found a new home, and he’ll get an opportunity to face his old team during the 2024 season.

Wilson has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported on Sunday evening. He is signing with the Steelers for the league minimum of $1.21 million, according to multiple reports.

Pittsburgh is getting Wilson on a bargain contract because the Denver Broncos are still paying the quarterback nearly $38 million in 2024. The veteran QB is signing a team-friendly deal with the Steelers while simultaneously leaving his old club in a salary cap pinch.

Denver’s list of 2024 opponents includes a home game against Pittsburgh, so Wilson will have a chance to play against the Broncos this fall.

Wilson is expected to compete with Kenny Pickett for the Steelers’ starting job this summer. The quarterback shared this video on his Twitter/X page after the news broke on Sunday:

Wilson, 35, went 11-19 as a starter in Denver before being released. He now has a chance to revive his career in Pittsburgh.
