Russell Wilson sent film from work with Broncos’ WRs to Peyton Manning for review

During his time as the Denver Broncos’ quarterback, Peyton Manning would take his wide receivers to Duke for offseason throwing sessions in the spring.

Russell Wilson, the team’s new quarterback, has taken a similar approach with a twist, hosting teammates at his impressive home in California for workouts.

“Wherever you go, I like the off-campus throwing,” Manning told Aric DiLalla of Denver Broncos.com last week. “There’s something about the [fact that] Russell can lead it, it’s just him and the receivers — coaches aren’t around. There’s some leadership there from all of the players. Obviously going out to San Diego, it sounds like it’s a heck of a facility.”

Manning had a similar career journey as Wilson, spending the majority of his career with one team (the Colts) before later joining the Broncos. Wilson previously won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks and he’s now aiming to emulate Manning’s path by winning a title with a second team.

Manning has already proven to be a valuable resource for Wilson, and he even reviewed film from the QB’s work with his new WRs.

“I talked to Russell,” Manning told DiLalla. “He actually set me the film of the throwing that they did, and I could tell they got really good work in …. I think they’re off to a real good start.”

Wilson’s work with his receivers will really heat up when Denver begins training camp later this summer, presumably beginning in late July.
