Russell Westbrook's X-rated rant at fans after LA Lakers booed as slump continues

LA Lakers star Russell Westbrook launched an X-rated tirade on some of the team's fans following yet another disappointing defeat.

The California-based team were booed by their own fans as they slumped to their sixth defeat in eight games.

The 2020 NBA champions succumbed 123-95 to the New Orleans Pelicans, with Lakers star  LeBron James scoring 32 points.

The win marked the largest in franchise history by the Pelicans over the Lakers, surpassing their 139-117 victory in 2018.

New acquisition CJ McCollum scored 22 points, while Jonas Valanciunas and former Lakers player Brandon Ingram both contributed 19 to the mammoth total.

The Lakers' struggles continue and coach Frank Vogel's men are languishing down in ninth place in the Western Conference.

Westbrook, 33, who registered 16 points and six rebounds, responded to a post-match question about the boos and if they affect him away from the court.

The 33-year-old fumed: "Nah, Take it home? For what? S**t. Take it home?

“I got three beautiful kids at my house. Why would I take it home? If they boo, they can take their a** home. I ain’t worried about that. It doesn’t bother me none.

“I can only answer if I take them home: No. But as for our team, I don’t think it’s something we got to deal with. And kind of move forward.”

The Lakers committed an alarming 23 turnovers, including 16 in the first half and a dramatically unsuccessful half-court court pass by Deandre Jordan in the third quarter, which hit a fan in the front row, summed up the hapless performance.

Asked how the Lakers can recover, James said: "It all starts with a win. You learn from that win, the things you did well and what you didn't do well."

Over the weekend, the four-time NBA champion reassured fans he is committed to the Lakers and would like to finish his legendary career by playing with his son, Bronny, 17, who is a junior in high school and has ambitions to play in the NBA.

"This is a franchise I see myself being with. I'm here. I'm here," James said after the Lakers' 105-102 loss to the LA Clippers on Saturday.

"I also have a goal that, if it's possible -- I don't even know if it's possible -- that if I can play with my son, I would love to do that.

"Is that, like, something that any man shouldn't want that in life? That's like the coolest thing that could possibly happen.

"That doesn't mean I don't want to be with this franchise."

James and co face another tough test next Wednesday when they host the Dallas Mavericks lead by Luka Donic, one the NBA's brightest stars.
