Russell Westbrook ‘humbly’ said he’s the NBA’s best rebounding point guard

In a game that featured a classic Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant duel, Russell Westbrook might have been the biggest story.

Not only did the Los Angeles Clippers point guard make a huge defensive play on Devin Booker to help close a huge 115-110 playoff win, he also got into it with a Suns fan in the postgame.

But once Westbrook sat down for his press conference recap, he was calm and collected. And he had a rather funny way of describing his individual skillset.

When a reporter asked Westbrook about his uncanny rebounding proficiency as a point guard (who had 10 boards for the Clippers), he went into great detail about things like the “will to win.” He would then preface calling himself the NBA’s best rebounding point guard with a glorious “humbly speaking.”

It’s that Westbrook says it with such a straight face, too, which sells the delivery to perfection:

For what it’s worth, even if Westbrook went with comments along the lines of “I’m the best at being humble,” he’s probably not wrong. He really might be the NBA’s best rebounding point guard.

Among active NBA guards, Westbrook owns the four best rebounding seasons by far. Only Oscar Robertson owns a better individual rebounding campaign among NBA guards all time, while Westbrook has four seasons in the top 10.

So, Westbrook seems to be telling the truth. It’s just amusing he felt the need to ground a compliment before saying he’s the best at a particular aspect of the game.
