Russell Vought, President Donald Trump’s nominee for the Office of Management and Budget, assured during his Senate confirmation hearing that he would not politicize the allocation of federal funds, particularly in response to natural disasters.
When questioned about the possibility of withholding funds from those affected by natural disasters, Vought unequivocally stated, 'I would not politicize the dispersing of federal funds in any capacity.'

Specifically addressing the issue of providing aid to Californians impacted by wildfires, Vought emphasized the administration's commitment to promptly delivering congressionally approved funding. In response to Democratic Senator Alex Padilla's inquiry, Vought affirmed, 'This president has consistently prioritized the equitable distribution of federal resources to regions in need of disaster relief, and I anticipate this approach will continue.'
