Russell Martin believes Swansea City's January signings will significantly add to his squad, despite admitting his side remain short on numbers.
The Swans brought in five players during the winter window, although a total of 10 departed either on loan or permanently.
And after what was a frustrating transfer deadline day that saw just one arrival in the shape of Nathaneal Ogbeta, the head coach re-iterated his desire to build with Swansea in the long-term.
"We're quite light on numbers. January is really difficult," he said.
"I've said to you before, I don't enjoy it. It's all a bit of a theatre. Clubs leave it so late, not one phone call about Liam Walsh and we get one at 7pm.
"You expect it to be frustrating. We came in four days before the season started. There were many people not up for the challenge. We're really up for the challenge.
"The players we've brought in have added to us, they've made the squad better, the team better. I think every manager in the country would want to do more business, they want to improve their squad as much as possible.
"What we didn't have was the luxury of time at the beginning. We had to learn with games. Did we do everything we'd have liked [in January]? No, I'm not going to sit here and lie. But have we been supported as much as the owners can possibly support us at this minute in time? I believe so. I trust them on that.
"I don't want to be disrespectful to the group we've got. They're brilliant to work with.
"This year was always going to be about trying to develop something that the supporters want at this football club, that's my understanding of it.
"We are not here to have a smash and grab season. We're here to develop a team of players that improve over a long period of time. I was really honest with everyone that this wasn't going to happen quickly. It doesn't change my belief of what we're doing here.
"Nathan [Jones] has been with that group of players for a long time. They've recruited for what they want to do. It makes a big difference, and give us that time and I've got no doubt that we'll be very successful."
Swansea's frustrations were heightened as they failed to turn a controlled performance into points against Luton.
Michael Obafemi, Ben Cabango and Ryan Bennett had chances to bulge the net for the hosts who bossed possession at the Swansea.com Stadium, but substitute Harry Cornick earned the Hatters all three points with a second half strike.
It means Swansea have lost their last two matches without scoring a single goal.
And Martin once again opened up on his frustrations with Swansea's lack of cutting edge in the final third.
"I think we were the better team. We had three huge chances and don't score," said the head coach.
"They don't cause us much harm. They're really good at what they do, you can see why they're doing so well in the league.
"But we have to score when we're on top. Michael has a good chance, Hannes [Wolf] has a good chance. Ben Cabango hits the post and Ryan Bennett misses the follow-up, so I'm really disappointed.
"I didn't see many problems with the performance in general. I thought we were dominant. When we beat the press we looked really dangerous. The lads are giving us everything they've got.
"We had a lot of the ball but we have to make more of it, and unfortunately at the moment, the final third is not quite there, it's not clicking.
"We concede such a poor goal. It's so disappointing. You can't concede a goal like that."
Swansea return to action against Blackburn on Saturday evening.
