Russell Crowe pays heartfelt tribute to Ryan Tubridy after Late Late Show exit

Legendary Australian actor Russell Crowe paid a heartfelt tribute to Ryan Tubridy following his departure from the Late Late hot seat.

The Academy Award winner, 59, famously scolded Late Late Show audience members back in 2015 while performing Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison on the Friday night chat-show. Since then, the Gladiator star has spoken of his fondness for the Late Late.

In a touching tribute to Tubridy, the Hollywood star described the Dubliner's contribution to the show as "enormous."

"Every single time I've come on the show, I've loved it. I loved the vibe, I love what you have done and what you have achieved," he began in a video message posted from The Epsy Hotel in Melbourne.

He recalled sharing a drink or two with the RTÉ star, as well as some tennis, and even got a large crowd in the hotel where he was performing to give a cheer of "good luck Ryan" following his exit from The Late Late Show.

Tubridy bid an emotional farewell last Friday night on his final show as host, which included some tearful moments as he welcomed back some of the unforgettable Toy Show children from the last 14 years and even got a video message from Beatles legend Paul McCartney, who wished him well for the future.

He thanked his mother, Catherine, who he said supported him right from the start and loved showing up to meet stars backstage during the Friday night show.

The 50-year-old dedicated his 14 years at the helm of the Late Late to his two daughters, Ella and Julia.

"An Irish institution, his contribution has been enormous. All the best for the adventures ahead Ryan," Russell Crowe wrote.
