Rupert Grint’s girlfriend is Georgia Groome… but the real news is some Harry Potter fans didn't know!

Harry Potter superfans have been sent into a meltdown over the revelation that Rupert Grint is dating Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging star Georgia Groome.

Despite the couple being pictured out together a number of times since 2011, it appeared some fans have only just stumbled across the romance.

One fan tweeted: “I was today years old when I found out Georgia from Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging has been going out with Ron Weasley since 2011 ???? (sic).”

The post sparked disbelief among fans of the acting couple who couldn't believe the news.

One user wrote: “WHAT MY MIND HAS BEEN BLOWN. I CAN’T.”

Another commented: “What the hell?!”

A third added: “WHAT.”

The news comes after Harry Potter star Grint told how he is “OK” with always being wizarding hero Ron Weasley.

He previously told the Standard: “We [Ron and I] became the same person. He was me. And I think I can live with that duality.

“I’m not desperate to change that. I think I’d be delusional if I thought I was ever going to.”

The 30-year-old actor, who became globally adored for his onscreen romance with Emma Watson’s Hermione Granger, previously admitted that he never looks back on his kiss with the actress.

Speaking about the moment they kissed, Grint told People: "I never look back at that scene.

"I've known Emma since she was literally nine-years-old and we had this very brother-sister relationship.

"And it just felt very surreal. I have a memory of her face getting closer and closer. Like, 'Oh my God.' I can't really remember anything apart from that.

"One take was enough. It was such a huge moment and there was so much expectation. Quite a lot of pressure actually."
