Glamor and decadence come naturally to the self-proclaimed Queen of Drag, RuPaul. As the host of RuPaul's Drag Race and a performer since the '80s, the entertainer is used to dressing up in bespoke gowns and luxurious jewels. In a recent video, RuPaul is seen sitting in front of his chic home bar, complete with gold-accented shelving, wood cabinets, and fringed stools. In short, it's a bar fit for entertainers.
When pondering home bar ideas, the key to creating an opulent space is in texture.
'Think glamorous, moody, and decadent with luxurious velvet and jacquard upholstery, deep green tones, luxurious wallpapers, and tabletop brass lighting to set the cocktail chic mood at home,' says award-winning Interior Designer, Matthew Williamson.
Ru Paul has achieved this through the various textures of his bar, from the velvet-backed stools to the smooth countertop, all backed by his polka-dotted wallpaper.

'You don’t need a huge amount of space to create a home bar,' says Tom Howley, Design Director at the eponymous kitchen company. 'Bespoke bar units can be built seamlessly into an awkward alcove, incorporated into kitchen cabinets, or positioned in a dining area, creating the ultimate backdrop for social gatherings.'
However, when working with smaller spaces, Howley recommends investing in some top-of-the-line appliances to ensure that the luxe bar quality is present.
