RuPaul's Drag Race UK star Lawrence Chaney 'deletes Twitter account' after torrent of 'hurtful comments'

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK fans have rallied behind Lawrence Chaney after the Scots drag queen appeared to delete her Twitter account last night.

The 23-year-old star’s @shadylawrence account on the social media website, which had more than 90,000 followers, currently shows as ‘not existing’.

It follows the airing of last night’s episode of the BBC Three show, which showed the Glasgow queen embroiled in a row with fellow Scot Ellie Diamond.

The Dundee queen was given the green light from host RuPaul to dictate the running order of a stand up comedy show on the programme after winning the mini challenge.

Lawrence accused Ellie of trying to sabotage her hopes of winning the contest after she was placed to follow competitor Bimini Bon Boulash on the running order.

Both Scottish queens made it through to the next round of the contest - but Lawrence was on the receiving end of a torrent of ‘hateful comments’ over social media.

Fans and fellow competitors of the show have since thrown their support behind Lawrence following last night’s episode.

Bimini Bon Boulash wrote: “This is a @ShadyLawrence stan account and you all need to realise it isn’t that deep. It’s a television show. If you support me, please don’t tear others down.”

Ellie Diamond added: “Just remember it’s never okay to send someone hate or hateful comments! Be kind to others and keep yah moof closed!”

Sister Sister, who appeared alongside Lawrence for much of the series, recently opened up on her dealings with trolls online.

Writing in The Guardian, she said that viewers had sent her a string of abusive ‘hate mail’ following her appearances on the show.

Commenting this morning, Sister Sister said: “A polite reminder that there’s a person on the other end of your tweet when you hit that send button.

“It can take 10 seconds to hurl a hurtful comment out there that could take days/weeks/months for the person on the receiving end to process. Consider the impact of your words.”

Lawrence Chaney has been approached for comment.
