RuPaul's Drag Race UK has addressed the backlash they have faced over a drag queen mix-up, and apologised after a post confused queens Baby and Black Peppa.
In a social media post depicting Dakota Schiffer's exit, Black Peppa was incorrectly captioned as Baby in a video shared to mark the queen's departure from the show. Following extreme anger from fans calling out the show, RuPaul's Drag Race UK released the following statement: "We are so deeply sorry about an error that appeared on a BBC social video that was made to support RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
"We have sincerely apologised to both Baby and Black Peppa and we also want to extend our heartfelt apologies to anyone else that this post offended."

In a second tweet following this, the show added: "As soon as the mistake was spotted, the post in question was removed from all of our platforms. Once again, our sincerest apologies."
Queens Baby and Black Peppa have both spoken out following the social media blunder, with both regarding it as "lazy" and "ignorant". Baby tweeted: "I know I’m late to the party but I genuinely hope the person who edited @dakota_schiffer’s farewell video gets f****** fired.
"It’s so embarrassing that someone on the @dragracekbbc socials team can’t differentiate between the only two black girls on the cast."
Black Peppa reiterated Baby’s statement, re-sharing their fellow contestant’s tweet while commenting: "I second that! It’s honestly lazy and disgusting."
25-year-old drag queen Baby also praised the Drag Race UK socials team for accepting responsibility for the mistake immediately, adding: "Shout out [to] the @dragraceukbbc socials team for taking responsibility for their actions. Thank you."
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK returns on Thursday at 9pm on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.
