A RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star is hosting a “gay Olympics party” come Eurovision week.

Known for her appearance on Season three of the BBC show, Choriza May is bringing an “exciting one-off viewing party” to the city. The 32-year-old will be entertaining LGBTQ+ fans with a Eurovision-themed party in celebration of the Song Contest final on Saturday, May 13 at Lime Street Central.

The performer will take to the stage with live singing, dancing, outfit changes and “plenty of audience participation”. Choriza May will be joined by DJ and guest host, Gladys Duffy.

The Spanish-British drag queen told the ECHO: “As massive Eurovision fans, it’s just fabulous to see the contest back here in the UK once more and where better for it to be hosted than Liverpool - the city of music.

“Eurovision has an extra special place in the heart of the LGBTQ+ community as let’s face it, it’s the ‘gay Olympics’ - thanks to all the glamour, the over-the-top outfits and outrageous performances. It’s a space where we feel loved and accepted and it’s one of the biggest nights of the year for the LGBTQ+ community, after Pride of course.”

Choriza, who also works as an illustration and graphic designer outside of drag, rose to fame after her stint on the UK spin-off series.

Fans fell in love with the entertainer the moment she walked into the Drag Race Werk Room. Choriza’s fanbase has since grown rapidly as she has become known for her witty one-liners, innuendos and humorous play on words.

Choriza added: “Our viewing party at Lime Street Central is set to be the biggest, brightest, best and most thrilling party in the city – with lots of singing, laughter and surprises planned throughout.”

Tickets cost £10 per person with a minimum booking of a table of four. Each ticket includes a complimentary glass of Bucks Fizz on arrival. Doors will open at 6:00 pm with the entertainment starting at 7 pm until late. Tickets can be bought online.
