A glittering array of RuPaul drag favourites will sashay into Newcastle it has been announced as what's billed as 'the largest drag show of all time' prepares to take to the road, with tickets going on sale this week.
News that RuPaul’s Drag Race 'Werq The World' show is to go on a UK tour was revealed on Monday evening and local fans will be delighted to hear that a city date is included. The Utilita Arena will play host to the glamorous American stars of the show on October 13 and among them will be TV personality Jaida Essence Hall, winner of the 12th season of RuPaul's Drag Race, and season 10 winner Aquaria.
Other well-known drag queen names on the line-up are Rosé, Angeria, Bosco, Daya Betty, Kandy Muse and Ginger Minj. There are 12 just-announced tour locations for the show, including the 02 Arena in London and venues in Scotland, Ireland and Wales, and the 'huge' glittering all-new production promises "an evening of endless extravaganza".

It's adds up to a double treat for local drag fans, following on from the upcoming tour of RuPaul's Drag Race UK official season four which includes two North East dates: Stockton Globe on April 22 and Newcastle's O2 City Hall on May 4. Werq The World will mark the reality TV extravaganza's fifth UK tour and tickets for it go on sale on Friday, March 10 at 10am.
Ben Hatton, director of touring theatre for event specialists Cuffe and Taylor which is co-presenting the tour, said: “These shows will be exciting, cheeky, outrageous and hugely entertaining – everything you’d expect from the worldwide phenomenon that is RuPaul’s Drag Race. We are very excited to be presenting the full tour across the UK and Ireland and look forward to seeing these fabulous queens sashay into packed arenas for 12 nights of fun.”
