RuPaul Drag Race's Danny Beard hosting ‘special silent disco’ for Eurovision

RuPaul’s Drag Race star Danny Beard and Radio City’s Leanne Campbell are joining forces to deliver “special” Eurovision events.

The events, which have been curated particularly for the Song Contest and will be hosted by the couple, aim to give visitors the opportunity to “experience the iconic waterfront museum like never before”.

The Eurovision-themed takeover will happen at The Museum of Liverpool on both Eurovision semi-final nights. Guests will enjoy two jam-packed evenings of "exclusive performances ranging from voguing, live music and DJs along with food and drink available throughout the evening".

The first event for Eurovision semi-final one will be held on Tuesday, May 9 by Danny Beard. The 30-year-old from Halewood is set to host and perform alongside a voguing extravaganza from the House of Suarez, DJing from Queensway Collective and a silent disco.

Danny Beard told the ECHO: “It’s so exciting to have the Eurovision Song Contest in my home town of Liverpool, and what better place to celebrate than the iconic Museum of Liverpool – a real emblem of the city’s waterfront. You can expect incredible performances, costumes and of course a few surprises – it is Eurovision after all!”

For semi-final two on Thursday, May 11, star of the Radio City Breakfast Show, Leanne Campbell, takes over hosting duties. Guests can expect more performances from the House of Suarez, alongside atmospheric music from the Liverpool Mozart Orchestra and a LED ballerina performance.

Leanne Campbell told the ECHO: “What an honour it is to be hosting such an incredible event. There will be something for everyone and it’s insane the amount of entertainment that is planned. Our city certainly knows how to throw a party.”

Alongside the two semi-final events, National Museums Liverpool (NML) will also be hosting screening events for the Eurovision final on Saturday, May 13 at the Museum of Liverpool and World Museum. Tickets for the screening can be bought online.

NML’s David Watson, executive director of audiences and media said: “NML’s programme of events is one of the newest best-kept secrets in town, and you won’t want to miss these uniquely curated events inspired by Eurovision.

“We’re so pleased to be welcoming Danny and Leanne to join in the Eurovision fun with us, as Europe’s favourite TV show descends on our city. We can’t wait to get started.”
