Manchester City supporters made clear that the club should ditch its interest in signing West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice after Arsenal reportedly lodged another big-money bid, leading the Blues to pull out.
According to a report by The Athletic, the Gunners tabled a jaw-dropping offer worth £105million on Tuesday evening. The Londoners have offered to pay the Hammers £100m up-front and an additional £5m in add-ons.
Arsenal have identified Rice as their top target in this summer's window and are intent on adding him to their pool of midfielders. Should they be successful with their latest offer, it will be a Premier League record fee for a British player.
City, who officially wrapped up the signing of Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea on Tuesday, saw a £90m bid of their own turned down for Rice earlier this week. The Blues had been weighing up a move for Rice but this morning decided to walk away from a deal.

Ahead of City's decision, several City supporters declared their hope that the Premier League champions would end their pursuit of Rice here, urging them to walk away from a potential deal. Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what some fans have had to say on social media.
As you can see from the verdicts displayed in the tweets above, City supporters believe a fee of £100m-plus is too much for Rice. Some believe the money would be better invested in an alternative central midfielder and others believe Pep Guardiola already has enough options at his disposal.
