Rumour Has It Timothée Chalamet And His Lethal Jawline Will Co-Host The Met Gala This Year

Beautiful boy Timothée Chalamet will reportedly co-host the Met Gala this year. And in unrelated news, what a stunning Monday morning it is.

Sources told the gossip mongers at Page Six that Timothée, who once rocked up to a film premiere with an Eiffel Tower keyring dangling from his finger, will co-host the fashion event alongside poet Amanda Gorman and Council of Fashion Designers of America Chairman Tom Ford.

Please be true, please be true, please be true.

While the Met Gala is slated to return in person this year – it was ultimately canned last year due to the pandemic – it won’t take place until September. And, the exhibition will be in two parts.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Vogue’s exhibition will introduce part one, titled In America: A Lexicon of Fashion come September 18, 2021. The exhibition will run through to September 5, 2022 to celebrate “The Costume’s Institute’s 75th anniversary and explore a modern vocabulary of American fashion.”

Part two, In America: An Anthology of Fashion, won’t open until May 5, 2022. It’s set to “explore the development of American fashion by presenting narratives that relate to the complex and layered histories of those spaces.” Like part one, it will close on September 5, 2022.

This year’s Met Gala will coincide with part one of the exhibition and is expected to take place on September 13, 2021, “pending government guidelines”. Naturally, it will be “a more intimate” Gala than previous ones.

Next year’s Gala is pencilled in for the First Monday in May as per usual, to celebrate part two of the exhibition. So that’s May 2, 2022.

That’s basically at least two pieces of very expensive couture in an eight-month bracket, which is probably nothing to these people.

Sources told Page Six that this year’s Met Gala has already sold out, with solo tickets reportedly costing a cool USD$30,000. Tables apparently went for an eye-watering USD$275,000.

The $$$ raised goes towards maintaining the Costume Institute and its vast, vast, vast collection of fashion.

Anyway.

Remember that time Timothée graced the cover of GQ last year?

It was easily one of my only highlights of 2020.

Also, re: the Eiffel Tower keyring. A fan gave it to him outside the premiere, so he just decided to wear it on the red carpet. Art.
