A supposed leak about the upcoming Until Dawn remake teases three hours' worth of gameplay to hype up fans.

The remake is set to become available on the PlayStation 5 and PC. The leaked gameplay footage was shared on Twitch. The video showcased the revamped opening of the highly popular game.

Until Dawn Remake Footage

Twitch user Nikolai7PT was the one who streamed two hours and 47 minutes of the Until Dawn remake. The game is scheduled to officially launch on Oct. 4, 2024. The user's stream began from the very start of the game and covered everything up until the third chapter.

The footage marks the first actual look that fans have seen for the prologue that was created by remake studio Ballistic Moon.

Previously, creative director Neil McEwan said that it had "given the Washingtons extra screen time." This was so that players could explore their close family bond, according to IGN.

The studio also said that it reframed some of the original scenes and developed the context around the infamous prank. The latter was done in order to enhance its "emotional impact." Some of the remake's updated gameplay mechanics were also showcased in the stream.

The upcoming game features revised cinematography that uses a mix of fixed and over-the-shoulder camera views. It also has new accessibility and usability settings such as an alternative to the Don't Move mechanic.

The remake has otherwise been built in Unreal Engine 5 and will expectedly offer updated character models, environments, and many more.

When the leaked footage was shared to a subreddit, many players shared their criticism that the game is being sold full-priced, Insider Gaming said.

Player Criticism

One user also referenced the fact that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered was able to add a variety of features and improve graphics while only charging $10 for those who own the original. He then said that the Until Dawn remake should have been able to do the same.

They added that the Until Dawn remake looks like it is a great game but argued that there was nothing in the remaster that would improve the gameplay. This is also true considering the limitations of the genre itself.

The original Until Dawn was released in 2015 as an interactive horror title that tasks players with controlling eight young adults.

They must find a way to survive the night on Blackwood Mountain. The game features a butterfly effect system where your choices will alter the story in minor or major ways, according to Game Ranx.
