British and Irish Lions legend Paul O'Connell says his most treasured jersey swap was with Wales' Martyn Williams.
In a distinguished 15-year career, O'Connell swapped shirts with some of the greatest talents to have played the game of rugby.
Speaking with SportsJoe, the towering Munster man explained that 100-cap Williams was his favourite swap.
"It is from when we beat Wales (in 2010), that was the jersey. I shouldn't have kept it, actually. I think he became Wales' most capped forward that day. It was his 95th cap."
The lock was correct. In the previous match Williams had just equalled Colin Charvis' record for the most capped Wales forward.
So when he turned out at Croke Park two weeks later, the Cardiff legend secured the record. He would rack up a ton of appearances when he faced Barbarians at the Millennium Stadium two years later.
O'Connell continued: "I loved him as a player. He was a brilliant player, but great fun off the field as well. I went on the Lions tour with him (in 2009), so became very friendly with him. I was delighted to get a hold of his jersey."
Williams and O'Connell started the third Test together against South Africa, with the Welshman packing down at openside behind the Munster man, who partnered Simon Shaw in the boilerhouse.
The Lions secured the victory in the match, but the campaign ended in a 2-1 defeat for the touring party.
