Rugby Australia gives life ban to fan who climbed SCG roof, condemns 'offensive remarks' towards Eddie Jones

A spectator who climbed onto the roof of the Sydney Cricket Ground and allegedly urinated off the top of the O'Reilly Stand during the Wallabies' loss to England on Saturday night has been banned for life from Rugby Australia (RA) events.

The patron was filmed in the act after climbing to the vantage point during the second half of Saturday's Test, with RA releasing a statement on Monday confirming the ban.

The man who climbed the roof was arrested and charged by NSW Police with behaving in an offensive manner in/near a public place and climbing on buildings on scheduled lands without approval and issued a two-year ban by the SCG.

RA chief executive Andy Marinos said RA was "disappointed" and labelled the patron's behaviour "deplorable", "disgraceful and dangerous", also condemning fans who made "offensive remarks" to England staff in the members' area.

They too were on camera, abusing England's Australian coach Eddie Jones.

In the video, a person behind the camera tells a friend standing at the fence to "spray him" as the former Wallabies mentor walked onto the field after the win.

"You're a traitor," the man says, before quickly backing away when Jones fired back at him.

"What did you say? What did you say?" a furious Jones says, pointing at the patron and being held back by security.

He repeatedly dares the man in a Wallabies cap to "come here and say it", before the security guard tells the patron: "I spoke to you before. Walk away."

"We have a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate behaviour, and we are working with Venues NSW on appropriate sanctions for these individuals.

"Rugby prides itself on values of respect and integrity — as seen in the players of both teams after the final whistle of a hard-fought series at the SCG on Saturday night.

"It is our expectation that spectators adhere to these values of respect and integrity when attending rugby matches and, we would hope, in society in general.

"Please, cheer for your team with all that you have. But please, always show respect for others."
