Rudy Giuliani unveiled as US Masked Singer contestant prompting judge walk out

Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani has been unveiled as a contestant on the US version of The Masked Singer.

The unmasking of the ex-NYC mayor during the singing competition left the judges stunned and even prompted actor Ken Jeong to walk off stage.

Giuliani’s appearance on the show - which was first reported in February - was aired to US audiences on FOX this Wednesday evening.

Before he was unmasked, Mr Giuliani had dressed up like Jack in the Box and performed a rendition of Bad to the Bone by George Thorogood. However, the disgraced attorney’s performance was not enough to save him from being eliminated from the show.

At the unmasking, host Nick Cannon quizzed Trump’s ex-lawyer about his decision to appear on the show, saying: “Mr. Giuliani, with all of the controversy that’s surrounding you right now, I think it surprises us all that you’re here on The Masked Singer. Man, what made you decide to do this?”

Giuliani explained that he had just welcomed a granddaughter and his decision to be part of the show was a message for her.

“Well, I guess the main reason is I just had a granddaughter, Grace, and I want her to know that you should try everything, even things that are completely unlike you and unlikely. And I couldn’t think of anything more unlike me and unlikely than this,” the disgraced lawyer explained.

He added: “And I enjoy the show — I have for years — and it just seemed like it would be fun. I don’t get to have a lot of fun.”

While Giuliani spoke to Cannon, all four judges were seen standing behind the judging panel.

However, when Giuliani performed his final song unmasked, Jeong walked off stage, saying “I’m done”.

Judge Robin Thicke was also absent from the final scenes of The Masked Singer. However, despite earlier reports suggesting he had left in protest, this wasn’t featured in the final edit of yesterday’s show.

Giuliani was mayor of New York City between 1994 and 2001. Later in his political career, he became Trump’s personal lawyer and came under fire amid allegations of corruption and violating lobby laws. His license to practice law was suspended in New York and in Washington DC in 2021.
