Data security software firm Rubrik on Tuesday reported financial results that topped expectations in its first quarter as a public company. The company's fiscal 2025 guidance for Rubrik stock came in above consensus estimates. Rubrik stock rose on the news.
The computer security firm reported Rubrik earnings after the market close. On the stock market today, Rubrik stock rose more than 3% to 36.50 in extended trading.
In the quarter ending April 30, Rubrik said it lost $1.58 per share versus a $1.48 loss a year earlier. Wall Street analysts that follow RBRK stock estimated a loss of $1.84 per share, including one-time items.
Also, Rubrik said revenue rose 38% to $187.3 million, topping estimates of $171.5 million.
Rubrik sells a cloud-computing-based data backup and recovery platform aimed at protecting companies from ransomware attacks. Rubrik garners about 85% of revenue from subscription software sales.
Rubrik Stock: ARR Key Metric
For Rubrik, Wall Street views subscription-based annual recurring revenue as a key financial metric.
In Q1, ARR climbed 46% to $856.1 million versus estimates of $832 million. At the end of the quarter, Rubrik had 1,859 customers with subscription ARR of $100,000 or more, up 41% year over year.
For full-year 2025, Rubrik forecast ARR of $990 million versus estimates of $959.5 million.
Rubrik's initial public offering in late April raised over $750 million, with shares priced at 32. Shares initially jumped to 40 on the first day of trading but pulled back. Rubrik stock hit an intraday low of 29.40 on May 30. Shares were up 17% heading into the Rubrik earnings report.
Founded in 2014, Rubrik's investors include Microsoft.
As of Jan. 31, Rubrik had more than 6,100 customers, according to its filing, up from roughly 5,000 a year earlier.
