Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has claimed that he will need to take opportunities to live out his footballing dreams in the future. It comes amid reported transfer interest from both Arsenal and Manchester United this summer.
The Portuguese international is one of a number of midfield options being linked with a switch to the Emirates, including the likes of fellow Premier League player Youri Tielemans. That’s because, come the end of the season, the lack of squad depth available to Mikel Arteta was on full display, with a key injury to Thomas Partey wreaking havoc late on.
Discussing the club’s project and progress, the Spaniard said: “They [supporters] can see what we’re doing, what the players want to do, how they represent the club, the values on and off the pitch, who we are as a group. And then we have the level that we have and it’s not been enough. We have to make a clear assessment on that and how we take the club to the next level. If we want to do that, we know what we have to do.”

Taking the club to the next level could depend heavily on the transfer business conducted this summer. Adding to the squad with quality depth is a key concern, while a striker is one particular area for focus, given Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are expected to leave.
However, attention could easily switch to the central ranks, given how thin the squad was left following Thomas Partey's injury at the back end of the season. That’s where Neves has been linked, who has hinted at a potential departure from Wolves.
Following defeat to Liverpool on the final day, the 25-year-old said: “Everyone knows what football is about, what our lives are about. Our career is really short and we need to take the opportunities we have. All of us have dreams and we need to live those dreams in a small space of time. Let’s see what happens, I cannot say too much about it.”
The claim will hardly make speculation over his potential transfer go away, as the midfielder plays coy over his future amid the links with Arsenal and Manchester United.
