Ruben Lotfus-Cheek, Thiago Silva: Chelsea injury news ahead of Plymouth Argyle FA Cup tie

Chelsea welcome Plymouth Argyle to Stamford Bridge this afternoon as both sides look to progress past the FA Cup fourth round.

The Blues have not been in action for two weeks following the mini-break imposed by the Premier League, with the majority of players either on international duty or taking a break from club commitments.

However, it's back to action now for the European champions, who will be keen to ensure they go one better in the FA Cup this season than last after they lost to Leicester City in the final of the competition in 2020/21.

Thomas Tuchel has a few big decisions to contend with for the clash today, but the German coach will be missing some of his key players.

So, with this being said, football.london rounds up the latest Chelsea injury news.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ben Chilwell and Reece James

Loftus-Cheek apparently picked up a knock recently and has not been training with his Chelsea team-mates this week ahead of this afternoon's FA Cup match.

Meanwhile, Chilwell and James are long-term absentees, with the former ruled out for the season and the latter slowly recovering from his problem.

Tuchel, when speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, ruled the trio out of the match this afternoon.

When asked who was available, he said: "Not Reece James and Ben Chilwell, unfortunately, and not Ruben Loftus-Cheek."

Thiago Silva and Christian Pulisic

While not being injured, Silva and Pulisic look very unlikely to play against Plymouth, with both travelling across the world playing for Brazil and the USA, respectively.

Tuchel said: "Everybody else was in training except Christian Pulisic and Thiago Silva. Everybody else was there, we have had a good training week."

Edouard Mendy

Mendy is still on international duty, with his Senegal side set to take on Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday evening.
