Ruben Loftus-Cheek identifies key problem Chelsea faced under Thomas Tuchel amid AC Milan win

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has highlighted a key issue that has been resolved by Graham Potter since his appointment as Thomas Tuchel's successor.

The Blues struggled to score goals towards the end of Tuchel's reign as manager, something Todd Boehly looked to address in the summer transfer window with the signings of Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The German boss passed up on the opportunity to sign Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, a proposal brought to him by Boehly after the American owner held a meeting with agent Jorge Mendes, a decision which contributed to his eventual sacking in September.

Since Potter's appointment Chelsea have scored five goals in three matches, just one less than the Blues managed in twice the amount of games under Tuchel this season, highlighting the difference in attack under the new manager. The west London outfit remain unbeaten under Potter and will look to continue their form into a tricky match against Wolves at the weekend.

Speaking after the 3-0 win against AC Milan on Wednesday night, Loftus-Cheek highlighted the key area where the Blues have improved under Potter as the new manager continues to implement his own style of play and tactics on the squad. The Chelsea midfielder said: "Really delighted [with the win], there’s a really good mood in the changing room.

"Fantastic performance from us, the energy straight from the start. We endured and suffered at times in the game, we had to, but we came through that.

"We were ruthless with the chances, that’s been the difference. We’ve had many games where we’ve played well but just couldn’t finish it off, tonight we took our chances."

Summer signing Aubameyang has now scored in back-to-back games with Reece James also rediscovering some good form to help the Blues in both defence and attack. Wesley Fofana scored his first goal for the club but had to be taken off with a knee injury in the first half, but fears that he could miss a large portion of the season have been eased after it was reported that the French defender has only suffered a knee sprain and will be back in action ahead of the 2022 World Cup next month.
