Ruben Dias compares Arsenal transfer target to Cristiano Ronaldo as Gunners eye Portuguese star

Manchester City star Ruben Dias has praised Wolves winger Pedro Neto and compared him to Cristiano Ronaldo amid links with a move to Arsenal this summer. The Portuguese forward is said to be eyed as a potential option for the Gunners as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad further.

The Spaniard has already made quick work of the transfer market during the summer break, with five signings added and over £100million spent. It has seen Arsenal address a number of issues across the squad, improving in both depth and quality in some key areas of the pitch.

Despite the amount of players added so far, there is still just under one month left in the market and Arteta hinted at the potential of more signings. He told Sky Sports: "We are going to try. If we can do them, great.

"But now it's work with the players we have, the focus should be with the players we have. You need the right balance because if you come short in terms of physicality in this game, you’re going to be exposed.

"The most important thing is to win the first match, to build confidence and momentum. Then you can talk about things we need to improve - there were quite a few today, to be honest."

While most areas have been addressed when it comes to transfers, one that is yet to be touched upon is on the wing, especially the right. With the struggles of Nicolas Pepe since his club-record switch from Lille, Bukayo Saka has been the main outlet on that side, suggesting the possible need for reinforcements there.

Plenty of players have been linked, though the latest is Wolves' Pedro Neto, with the Express claiming the Gunners hold a keen interest in signing the 22-year-old. Should Arteta need any convincing to sign the Portuguese forward, a compatriot of the winger in Ruben Dias has given plenty of praise over his ability.

Speaking on the Premier League YouTube channel last year, the Manchester City defender was asked about the best dribbler and said: "Again I need to say Cristiano [Ronaldo]. The time he was here he was definitely great, he got the Ballon d'Or, but I have to say [Pedro] Neto as well and also Bernardo [Silva], Bernardo is a phenomenon."

It's high praise from the centre-back, who has played with and against some of the best in the world. With Neto making his long-awaited return from injury this season, it could be one where he continues to develop, but it remains to be seen whether that's in the gold of Wolves or the red of Arsenal.
