'Rubbish' - Jesse Lingard slammed as Nottingham Forest ace told to apologise to Manchester United

Nottingham Forest ace Jesse Lingard has been told he needs to apologise to Manchester United and their fans for the way he portrayed his exit from Old Trafford.

Lingard received a warm welcome upon his return to the club on Tuesday night which ended in a 3-0 defeat for Steve Cooper's men. The former West Ham loan star left United in the summer to seal a switch to the City Ground, but his exit from the club was not on the best of terms.

Forest's Lingard recently slammed 'false promises' at United in an interview with the Telegraph and says his exit may have been for "politcal" reasons. But former United defender Paul Parker says Lingard only had himself to blame for the way his United career petered out.

He told BonusBetCodes: "Jesse Lingard wasn't disrespected at all at Man United, and for him to say that is totally wrong. He is a local boy, and now he is disrespecting the club instead of looking himself in the mirror.

"Jesse wasn't good enough to play for Man United, and he needs to acknowledge that instead of coming up with accusations about the club. To talk about politics as the reasons why he was a failure is rubbish. "You should never use that sentence when talking about football, and if he really wants to talk politics, he should go and talk to Gary Neville.

"One day, he will hopefully be mature enough to see that he disrespected the club by putting this in the newspaper and then should apologise to the club and the fans."
