Rubbish collection company ordered to change name by Lord of the Rings owner

A rubbish collection company has been ordered to change its name and its slogan by the owners of the Lord of the Rings franchise. The firm has been sent a ceases and desist letter by Middle-Earth Enterprises, reports the BBC.

Nick Lockwood and Dan Walker, who run Lord of the Bins, said they were contacted by Middle-earth Enterprises and now face spending thousands of pounds to rebrand.

Mr Lockwood said: "They claim customers could think they were endorsed by or affiliated to Lord Of The Rings. But anyone in their right mind knows we're a completely separate and non-competitive business."

He says they have aldo been told to ditch their slogan, One Ring to Remove It All.

He added: "We now have the prospect of spending thousands of pounds and effort rebranding, to appease a multi-billion pound company. We will survive this storm and continue providing a great service for our city, whatever our name."

Middle-Earth Enterprises has been approached for comment by the BBC.
