RTE viewers tell Dermot Bannon to 'take a bow' after 'best Room to Improve episode ever'

Room to Improve fans told host Dermot Bannon to 'take a bow' after his work in this week's show.

This week on the RTE show saw Dermot transform a drab bungalow into a brand new family functioning home in Howth.

The timing of the build was impacted by the pandemic and money was a huge worry for the Brown family throughout construction.

So it was a challenge for Dermot to deliver on the family's high expectation.

Kenny and Laura Brown live in the beautiful suburb of Howth in North Co Dublin.

Their home needed some TLC when Dermot visited them at first. It was run down and in need of a serious renovation for the family of five, with another baby on the way.

Kenny and Laura had huge expectations from the build but for what they wanted; their budget was extremely tight.

They needed to completely re-work their home to make it work for their family’s future.

Dermot’s plan was to break into the attic and utilise the stunning views from the house but make it future proof for the Brown family.

Laura’s expectations from Dermot were high but to get the build to the construction stage was tricky due to the tight budget.

Denis McGlynn the contractor who undertook the job had his work made out for him when the build started after the second construction lockdown in April 2021.

With rising material and labour costs, it was stressful for all involved. Kenny and Laura were renting but when the delay of the lockdown prolonged the overall process, money was being spent on rent that they simply could not afford.

Claire the QS really had a tough job managing the budget but also keeping in line with the homeowners’ expectations.

And whilst fans hailed Claire for her work, saying: “Claire needs her own show. She’s the business."

Others were full of praise for main star Dermot.

One fan took to Twitter saying: “Woah, you have pulled a hat out of the rabbit.... It's stunning…”

Another commented: “Wow, the house is just amazing. I want to blow mine up now and start from scratch.”

“That house is amazing! A lovely place to raise 4 children. I really like it. And those views...,” a third added.

A fourth fan went on: “Wow, take a bow Dermot Bannon. You made some job of that house.”
