RTE Viewers were left divided after Saturday night’s show as Fair City stars Bryan Murray and Una Crawford O’Brien sat down to chat.
Tommy opened the real-life couple’s interview with a shocking question that left half of the viewers nearly spitting out their wine with laughter, while the others said they were left ‘furious’ by it.
His first question to the pair was: "What went wrong in your careers that you ended up in Fair City?"

The presenter quickly backtracked and said: "I have a genuine curiosity about working as a soap actor and what you let go of when you abandon the short contract gig, which might be stimulating because it's all different."
They took the question in their stride and didn’t seem phased by it as Una replied: "But you don't you see, because you can do the others in between.
“You can still do the plays, you can still do the musicals and you can still be part of the family of Fair City."
Viewers immediately took to social media to point out the question but most couldn't help but look at the hilarity of his directness.
One viewer wrote: "Straight in there Tommy,” while another said: "Jesus you wouldn’t want to be easily offended”.
Another said: "The funniest question I’ve heard asked on the #TommyTiernanShow."
However, some didn’t quite see the funny side of his question and one person wrote: "Has Tommy Tiernan always been this rude or...?"
Another wrote: “Normally a fan #tommytiernanshow. But Tommy Tiernan's opening line to Bryan Murray and Una Crawford O' Brien was a disgrace, putting them both down for working in a soap. I am really furious. I literally can't believe his snobbism, his ignorance”.
