RTE viewers praised Jimmy White as a 'fascinating' after he appeared on Saturday night's Tommy Tiernan Show.
White is one of the biggest names in snooker history and touched upon his alcohol issues.
The former world number two revealed that he has been sober for six years after trying for close to 25 years to get sober.
He said: "I'm sober so every day is good. I've been trying to stop drinking for 25 years but about six years.
"I've been working on myself and get the right people around me and lucky enough I've always had a great relationship with my children.
"You've got to be sober for a long time to be sober. For me it just goes into other things it's just chaos."
He added: "I went to GA for gambling, I went to NA for narcotics. I was always a drinker, my real addiction was alcohol. It was where I come from and if you had money you should be drinking and you should be out celebrating.
"And then I found cocaine and with the cocaine I found I could have a bit of cocaine and I'd be sober again and then I could get and go out with different people and do it all over again.
"And all the time I was wrecking my body because there was an enormous amount of drink going on."
And RTE viewers praised White, saying: "I never knew Jimmy White had so much personal struggles in life. Fascinating interview. #TommyTiernanShow."
While another said: "Always loved Jimmy White, great interview."
And another added: "I feel I'm sitting in a pub earwiging on an incredibly interesting conversation between Jimmy White & Tommy Tiernan and i could earwig all night right into the early hours."
