RTE viewers hail 'hilarious' banter between Dara Ó Briain and Tommy Tiernan over tv show idea

RTE Tommy Tiernan viewers were delighted to see comedian Dara Ó Briain on the show last night, with the two comedians cracking jokes non-stop.

It was another star-studded lineup for the show on Saturday night, with fellow guests including campaigner Rebecca Tallon de Haviland, author and activist Matthew Collins and fellow comedian Dara Ó Briain. But it was Bray native Dara's playful banter with host Tommy Tiernan that seemed to capture viewers' attention.

Dara, who is adopted, opened up about his journey to meet his biological parents. On the show, he revealed why he wanted to meet his birth mother to let her know that he was "okay".

Dara said: "I felt an obligation to let this person know that it worked out okay. I didn't have a void and I didn't think it was going to fulfil me, because I have a very strong relationship with my parents, as I will always refer to them."

Meanwhile, Dara and Tommy also joked that he came up with the idea for Tommy's chat show years before he did, RSVP reports. Dara quipped: "I proposed this show about 20 years ago. I'm not saying you stole it but..."

He and Tommy shared a laugh about it all, and social media viewers were loving the comedic duo's energy. One person wrote on Twitter: "Love how @Tommedian and @daraobriain spark off each other. Great energy."

Another added: "Tommy and Dara - a complete and utter joy to watch." A third person commented: "Great banter between the two lads tonight, hilarious. Just two comedians putting on a show and bouncing off one another."
